Black is the cotton line's boldest claim. The ground absorbs almost all visual weight, leaving the central medallion to do its work through raised relief rather than color contrast — the rug reads sculptural, almost like brushed slate when seen in oblique light. Premium 3M-points cotton brings the brushed-soft, dense-springy underfoot consistent with the line; on a black ground the cotton hand is the surprising softness against an otherwise graphic palette.

Family / lifestyle

Black is honest about itself: the boldest palette in the line, the most photographically striking, and the most demanding to maintain. Pet hair, dust, lint, and any pale spill shows immediately on the ground. The cotton hand makes the rug softer than wool underfoot, but the palette is for adult-led design-forward rooms, not for family rooms with light-colored pets or active small children.

This piece sits in the cotton family — cotton face on a cotton foundation, precision machine-woven for sharp pattern definition with hand-finished edges. The cotton hand is softer and lighter than wool underfoot, reads more tonal, and suits bedrooms, sunrooms, and adult-led households where palette quietness matters.
