01Description

An Afghan toshak cover set on a deep black ground, with a large stepped diamond medallion in gold and grey at the centre, ringed by smaller gold and slate-grey diamonds. One floor-mattress cover plus two matching cushion covers in the same pattern, finished with black tassels at the cushion corners. A key-pattern border in gold frames the field, and an outer band of alternating gold and grey diamonds runs all the way around.

Designed and produced by our own team — Afghan and Turkish craftspeople who grew up with these pieces in their own homes. We import the foam ourselves by the container and cut and fill it here in Sacramento.

The Afghan toshak is the floor mattress of the home — long, firm, often laid in pairs along the walls of a sitting room and topped with bolster pillows. It is the foundation of the traditional Afghan reception room (mehmankhana), and it remains in everyday use across the diaspora — including the substantial Afghan community in the Sacramento area.

The cushion is firm enough to support a seated weight without compressing, the cover is structured for repeated wear, and the bolsters carry the lean. Our Afghan toshak sets are made for everyday floor seating: kilim-style woven polyester covers over high-density foam inserts, and the covers come off for washing. Patterns draw on classic Turkmen and northern Afghan motifs.

Cover fabrics are durable enough for daily floor seating yet soft enough for prayer rooms and meditation spaces. Removable covers (where marked) allow easy washing and rotation.
