Washable Rugs

Every rug in this collection is water-safe and washable. Persian, Afghan and Turkish designs in 1200-reed and 1.5M-point construction, power-loomed from polypropylene and polyester pile on a cotton warp — colourfast, stain-resistant and safe to clean with water. That is the real advantage over a hand-knotted wool carpet, and it makes them practical for dining rooms, kids’ rooms, pets and high-traffic Sacramento households.

Three ways to wash one: blot everyday spills at home with cold water and mild soap; hose it down outdoors and lay it flat to dry; or drop it at a carpet-wash service and let their rug-washing machine do the work. All three are completely safe for the fibre.

How our rugs are made

  • This collection is machine-woven (power-loomed) in Türkiye, imported directly by container to the United States.
  • Hand-finished. Fringes are attached and finished by hand, edges are hand-serged or hand-bound, and fine border detailing is completed by hand after weaving.

Why water does not hurt them

Wool absorbs water and needs specialist handling. The online range is different: power-loomed from polypropylene and polyester pile on a tight cotton warp. Synthetic fibre does not soak the way wool does, so it sheds dirt, resists spills and dries quickly. The colours are heat-set and colourfast, so washing will not fade the design.

How to clean them

  • Spot clean — the everyday method. Blot spills with cold water and mild soap; no harsh chemicals needed. Work from the outside of the spill inwards.
  • Rug-washing machine — the full clean. Any carpet-wash service can run these through a proper rug-washing machine. Ask us and we will point you to one in Sacramento.
  • By hand — at home. Rinse outdoors with low-pressure water, squeegee the pile flat, then dry flat or over a railing. Let it dry completely before it goes back on the floor.
  • Vacuum regularly without a beater bar, and rotate the rug twice a year so it wears evenly.
  • Keep it simple. Cold water and mild soap are all the fibre ever needs — bleach, solvent cleaners and a tumble dryer do more harm than good.

Can I put one of these rugs in my washing machine at home?

A household washer is built for laundry, and a rug is heavier and stiffer than anything it is designed to tumble. The good news is you do not need it: a hose in the driveway or a carpet-wash service’s rug-washing machine will clean the rug more thoroughly and is completely safe for the fibre.

Will washing fade the colours?

No. The dyes are heat-set and colourfast, so washing will not fade the pattern when you follow the care steps above.

Can I wash a hand-knotted rug the same way?

No — hand-knotted wool carpets should be professionally washed. We’ll walk you through care when you view them at the showroom.

Can I see these rugs in person in Sacramento?

What to know before buying a machine-made rug

Construction

The online catalog is power-loomed in Türkiye with hand-attached fringes and hand-finished edges. Each product page lists the exact construction, density, pile height and material.

Material & feel

A polypropylene pile on a cotton warp and weft — soft underfoot, colourfast, and far more forgiving of traffic and spills than wool.

Cleaning

Colourfast and water-safe, so a rug can be washed at home by hand or with a carpet-cleaning machine. Never in a washing machine or dryer. Day to day, vacuum on low with the beater bar off.

Best rooms

Living rooms, dining rooms, hallways, family rooms and majlis seating — anywhere you want a traditional look that survives daily use.

Shipping is free on orders over $110 across the USA and Canada, and a flat $20 below that. Orders leave within one business day and arrive in 3–5 business days in the U.S. Sacramento-area online orders get free local delivery in 1–2 days.

What is your return policy?

30-day returns on online orders. Items must be unused, in original condition and in original packaging. The customer pays return shipping; if a rug arrives damaged or faulty, we pay. Approved refunds are processed within 3–7 business days.

Are these rugs machine-made or hand-knotted?

The online catalog is power-loomed (machine-woven) in Türkiye, with hand-attached fringes and hand-finished edges. Every product page lists the exact construction, density, pile height and material. Hand-knotted Afghan pieces are shown at the Sacramento showroom by appointment and are not listed online.

Can a rug be cut or bound to a different size?

We sell from stock rather than weaving to order, and the largest size we carry is 10×13. What we do in house is cutting, binding, overlocking and fringe work on a rug we already stock, so an existing piece can be trimmed to fit an alcove or a stair run. Ask us and we will tell you what is on the floor.

Can I see the rugs in person before buying?

Yes. The showroom is at 3423 Watt Avenue, Sacramento, open daily 10:00 AM – 7:30 PM. We speak English, Turkish, Farsi, Dari, Pashto and Urdu, and the team can help with size and colour choices.
