How our rugs are made

• This collection is machine-woven (power-loomed) in Türkiye, imported directly by container to the United States and cleared through U.S. Customs with Türkiye as the declared country of origin.
• Hand-finished. Fringes are attached and finished by hand, edges are hand-serged or hand-bound, and fine border detailing is completed by hand after weaving.

What “Turkish rug” means at Stylish Rugs

Turkey (Anatolia) has been a carpet-weaving centre for over six centuries — and many of the Persian patterns you recognise (Kashan medallions, Tabriz florals, Heriz geometrics) were perfected on Turkish looms. Picking the right rug for your room

Living room (78–96″ sofa) — choose 8×10; front legs of the sofa on the rug, back legs off. For a sectional, step up to 9×12 or 10×13. See 8×10 vs 9×12 by sofa depth.

Dining room — the rug must extend at least 24″ beyond every chair when pushed back. See the 24-inch clearance rule.

King-bed bedroom — 8×10 under the lower two-thirds of the bed; 9×12 for side-coverage to the nightstands.

FAQ

Are the rugs on this page hand-knotted? No — they are machine-woven in Türkiye, with fringes, edges and fine detailing finished by hand. Our hand-knotted collection is Afghan and is shown at the showroom by appointment.

Is a Turkish rug the same as a Persian rug? Closely related design traditions — both sit within the broader oriental rug family. Turkish weavers adopted Persian patterns centuries ago and developed their own knot (Ghiordes / symmetric) versus the Persian knot (Senneh / asymmetric). See the full comparison.

Can I get a rug in 9×12 or 12×15? Many designs come in 10×13 (300×400 cm), the closest standard Turkish-loom size to a U.S. 9×12. 10×13 is the largest size we carry, and we sell from stock only — for a bigger room, two rugs side by side or a large rug plus runners works better than one oversized piece.

How do I clean a Turkish rug? Vacuum weekly (no beater bar), rotate every 6 months and blot spills immediately with a damp white cloth. Our rugs are water-safe and can be professionally washed.
