Turkish Rugs

Turkish rugs and carpets woven for modern Sacramento homes — Oushak softness, Kashan medallions and 1.5-million-point luxury weaves in sizes from 3×10 runners to 10×13 great-room carpets. Built on Turkish looms in the classical Persian-design tradition, every piece here is machine-woven for everyday durability and a soft, low-pile finish that suits high-traffic living rooms, dining rooms and bedrooms. For background, see why Turkish machine-made rugs are so good.

What “Turkish rug” means at Stylish Rugs

Turkey (Anatolia) has been a carpet-weaving centre for over six centuries — and many of the Persian patterns you recognise (Kashan medallions, Tabriz florals, Heriz geometrics) were perfected on Turkish looms before travelling west. The two flagship Anatolian styles are the soft, open Oushak and the flat-woven kilim; read the Oushak guide and Turkish kilim guide for the full story. Our Turkish-loom catalog continues that tradition with modern manufacturing: tight 1,200-reed and 1.5-million-point constructions, microfibre-and-jute backing and palettes designed for current interiors.

Hand-knotted Turkish rugs (Hereke silk, Oushak, Anatolian tribal) are kept in our Sacramento showroom by appointment. If you’re shopping for a heritage carpet rather than a high-performance modern rug, visit us and we’ll bring the right pieces out of the vault. To weigh the traditions, read Persian vs Turkish rugs.

Most-loved Turkish patterns this season

Kashan medallions (red, blue, navy) — the iconic central-medallion + corner-flora layout, perfected on Turkish looms. Works in traditional dining rooms, transitional living rooms and luxe bedrooms.

Oushak & 18 Lancet Live series — soft, open Oushak palettes and premium 18-lancet weaves in modern medallion and geometric panel designs. Crimson, gold, dark grey, beige and cream. Ideal for contemporary and California-modern interiors.

1.5M-point luxury Turkish — our top-tier Turkish weave in cream and luxury neutrals. The closest machine-woven match to a hand-knotted Kashan we offer online.

Picking the right Turkish rug for your room

Living room (78–96″ sofa) — choose 8×10; front legs of the sofa on the rug, back legs off. For a sectional, step up to 9×12 or 10×13. See 8×10 vs 9×12 by sofa depth.

Dining room — the rug must extend at least 24″ beyond every chair when pushed back; a 6-seat table needs 8×10, an 8-seat needs 9×12 or 10×13. See the 24-inch clearance rule.

King-bed bedroom — 8×10 under the lower two-thirds of the bed; 9×12 for side-coverage to the nightstands.

Hallways and kitchens — a 3×10 runner protects high-traffic floors and carries the Turkish design language across the home.

Why Turkish rugs work for modern California homes

  • Colour saturation — Turkish dyes hold deep reds, navys and golds without bleeding, even in sun-bright California rooms.
  • Pile durability — tight weaves resist matting under furniture and heavy foot traffic.
  • Easy-care construction — microfibre-and-jute backing allows simple spot cleaning with a damp white cloth.
  • Pattern flexibility — Kashan medallions read traditional in a classic home and modern-eclectic in a minimalist room.

FAQ

Is a Turkish rug the same as a Persian rug? Closely related but not identical — both sit within the broader oriental rug tradition. Turkish weavers adopted Persian patterns centuries ago and developed their own knot (Ghiordes / symmetric) versus the Persian knot (Senneh / asymmetric). See the full comparison.

Do you sell hand-knotted Turkish rugs? Yes — Hereke silk, Oushak and Anatolian tribal carpets are showroom-only by appointment and are not currently published online.

Can I get a Turkish rug in 9×12 or 12×15? Many designs come in 10×13 (300×400 cm), the closest standard Turkish-loom size to a U.S. 9×12. For 12×15 or larger, ask about custom hand-knotted commissions.

How do I clean a Turkish rug? Vacuum weekly (no beater bar), rotate every 6 months and blot spills immediately with a damp white cloth. The machine-woven pieces here are water-safe and can be professionally washed; hand-knotted heirlooms should always go to a specialist.

Buying Guide

How to Choose the Right Rug for Your Home

A fine rug should feel beautiful, balanced, and practical for the way you live. Use this quick guide to choose the right size, color, material, and style.

Choose the Right Size

For living rooms, 8×10 or 9×12 usually frames the seating area. For dining rooms, choose a rug that extends at least 24 inches beyond the table.

Match Your Color Story

Burgundy and gold create a warm traditional look. Navy and cream feel elegant and modern. Ivory, beige, and soft tones help brighten smaller rooms.

Understand Rug Quality

Machine-made rugs offer consistent patterns, durability, and easier maintenance. Higher density and detailed weaving create sharper designs.

Practical Buying Notes

What to Know Before Buying a Machine-Made Rug

Machine-made rugs are a practical choice for many homes because they offer consistent patterns, accessible pricing, and easier maintenance.

Density & Detail

Higher reed counts (1000–1500) produce sharper patterns. Our Persian-inspired collection is woven at 1200 reeds for crisp medallion definition.

Material & Feel

Modern machine-made rugs use polypropylene and polyester pile on a cotton warp — soft underfoot, stain-resistant, and naturally fade-resistant.

Easy Maintenance

Many of our designs are machine-washable at 30°C or spot-cleanable. No professional cleaning required for everyday upkeep.

Best Rooms

Living rooms, family rooms, dining areas, hallways, kid rooms, and apartments — anywhere you want luxury looks with practical wear.

Wool or Handmade

For heirloom investment pieces or formal sitting rooms with light traffic, ask about wool and hand-knotted options at the showroom.
