01Description

The feel of it

Run a hand across this rug and the pile gives way like poured silk — a dense, liquid softness that is the whole reason people buy a viscose floor. The fibre is spun fine and cut short, so it lies flat and cool underfoot rather than springing back at you, and bare feet find it in the morning before the rest of the room has woken up.

What the camera never quite catches is the way it moves with the light. Walk one way and the grey & teal ground lifts to cool silver; turn and walk back and the same ground settles into pewter. It is one rug that reads as two, and in rooms with north light and grey or black-brown furniture that shift is what makes a floor look considered rather than covered.

What you are looking at

The drawing is a column of flowering roundels down the centre with drawn corner panels.

Why this one

  • A silk-touch surface. 100% viscose, cut short and woven dense, for the softest hand we stock — closer to a scarf than to a carpet.
  • Lustrous, directional sheen. The pile catches light down its length, so the colour shifts from pale to deep as you cross the room.
  • A woven cotton backing. 100% cotton, which holds the rug square, stops it creeping on a hard floor, and means it needs no pad at 3 m² and above.
  • Drawn at 1500 reeds. Fine enough that the small flowers in the border stay flowers instead of collapsing into texture.
  • Best in calm rooms. Formal living rooms, dining rooms and main bedrooms — low to medium traffic, where softness and sheen are the point.

How it is made

It begins as cones of viscose yarn standing in the creel hall, and is woven on a high-density loom under digital colour control — which is how a drawing this fine holds its register across ten feet. Off the loom the rug is washed, and the wet pile is worked over by hand with a brush before the rug is hung to dry rather than tumbled. That wash is where the lustre comes from.

It is then sheared to a level pile, and the edges and fringe are finished one rug at a time by an operator feeding it through the machine by hand. The last step before it is rolled is a person standing in front of it, looking.

Living with viscose

Viscose is a botanical cellulose fibre, and that is exactly why it is this soft — but it also means water is not its friend. Treated properly it stays beautiful for years; treated like a synthetic it will not.

  • Vacuum gently, beater bar off. Suction only, in the direction of the pile.
  • Blot spills at once — never rub. A dry white cloth, pressed, lifted, repeated. Rubbing distorts the pile and the mark becomes permanent.
  • Do not soak, steam or wet-clean at home. Water can yellow the fibre and flatten the sheen, and that cannot be undone.
  • Use a professional for anything more. Tell them it is a 100% viscose rug before they start — a cleaner who works with viscose will dry-solvent it and dry it fast. A cleaner who treats it as wool or polypropylene will ruin it.
  • Rotate 180° twice a year so light and footfall land evenly.

We sell rugs; we do not wash, repair or re-fringe them, and we do not send them out on your behalf. If you need a cleaner, ask us and we will tell you who we would use.

Pre-order terms, in plain words

This rug is on its way to us. It arrives at our Sacramento warehouse in late October 2026, and pre-orders ship within two business days of arrival. You are reserving this exact design and size at today’s price.

If the arrival date slips we email you and you choose: keep the order, or cancel for a full refund. No restocking fee. If you would rather see it first, it will be on the showroom floor the week it lands.

Origin & Heritage

Persian weaving is the longest continuous design tradition in floor covering — a vocabulary of medallions, herati and mahi fields, boteh borders, and floral spandrels developed over centuries from Tabriz to Isfahan, Kashan to Nain. This piece sits within that vocabulary in a Persian-inspired interpretation, drawing on classical motifs with a palette suited to contemporary rooms.

How It Feels Underfoot

Persian compositions are built to be read at multiple distances — the medallion across a room, the border at the doorway, the field details underfoot. A dense weave is what makes that work; thin pile loses the small-scale drawing first. Underfoot, expect a firm, even pile that holds furniture impressions briefly and recovers cleanly.

Designer Styling Notes

Persian palettes reward considered pairings: walnut and oak casegoods, antiqued brass and polished nickel, ivory linen and cream bouclé, leather in cognac or oxblood. For a layered look, sit a darker Persian against a paler sofa; for a more graphic read, a light-ground Persian beneath a lower-profile sectional with a single bronze accent.

Our Curated Selection

Stylish Rugs is a Sacramento showroom at 3423 Watt Avenue — open daily, ten to seven-thirty — and the catalogue here is a curated slice of what we carry. We serve the Persian-speaking, Afghan, Arab and wider Muslim communities of Sacramento and Northern California in person and online. If you are looking for a specific size or palette you do not see listed, call the showroom or message us on WhatsApp and we will let you know what is on the floor right now.

A rug should run 18–24 inches past the sofa on each side. If you are between two sizes, take the larger one — an undersized rug is the most common mistake we see.

05Care Instructions
  • Vacuum weekly with the beater bar off to protect the pile
  • Blot spills immediately with a clean white cloth (don't rub)
  • Rotate the rug 180° every 6 months for even wear
  • Professional clean every 18–24 months
  • Use a quality rug pad on hardwood for cushion and to extend life

08Frequently Asked Questions
How long does shipping take?

Most orders arrive within 3–5 business days. Full rates and the Canada note are in Shipping & Returns above.

What is your return policy?

30-day returns on online orders. The item must be unused, in original condition, and in original packaging. Customer pays return shipping. Approved refunds are processed within 3–7 business days.

Can I see this in person before buying?

Yes — it is on the showroom floor. Opening times and directions are in the Visit Our Sacramento Showroom panel above. Call ahead if you want a specific piece pulled out before you arrive.

How can I get help choosing the right piece?

Message us on WhatsApp or call — the number is in the header and the footer. Tell us the two room measurements and we will tell you honestly which size fits, including when none of ours do.

How do I choose the right rug size?

For living rooms, an 8×10 or 9×12 frames the seating area. The rug should extend 18–24 inches beyond the sofa on each side. For dining rooms, choose a rug that extends at least 24 inches beyond the table.

Is this rug machine-made or hand-knotted?

Each product page lists the construction in Specifications. Most pieces are precision machine-woven with hand-finished edges; hand-knotted wool pieces are tagged accordingly and noted in the spec panel. Synthetic and cotton pieces are honest about their material — see the Materials & Craftsmanship panel for this rug.

Do you offer custom rug sizes?

We don’t weave rugs to order, and we don’t cut or resize them. 10×13 ft is the largest size we carry and we sell from stock. The one finishing service we offer is overlocking — edge finishing on rugs bought from us. For a room bigger than 10×13, two rugs side by side usually works better than one oversized piece.

How should I care for my rug?

Vacuum weekly with the beater bar off, blot spills immediately with a clean white cloth, and rotate 180° every 6 months. If it ever needs a full wash, use an independent professional rug cleaner — we don’t clean rugs ourselves. Our free Rug Care Guide below covers the rest.
