How our rugs are made

• This collection is machine-woven (power-loomed) in Türkiye, imported directly by container to the United States and cleared through U.S. Customs with Türkiye as the declared country of origin.
• Hand-finished. Fringes are attached and finished by hand, edges are hand-serged or hand-bound, and fine border detailing is completed by hand after weaving.
• Hand-knotted Afghan carpets are shown by appointment at our Sacramento showroom and are not listed online. See the hand-knotted collection →
• Design names are design names. “Persian,” “Kashan” and “Tabriz” describe the pattern, not the country of manufacture.

What “area rug” means in this collection

An area rug is a defined, intentional floor piece that sits in the center of a room rather than running wall-to-wall. The dimensions here are the ones that actually fit American residential floor plans — the 8×10 living-room standard, the 9×12 great-room standard, and the 5×7 / 6×9 sizes that work for bedrooms and smaller seating areas. By room — which area-rug size works where

• Living room (most common): 8×10 with a standard 7-8 ft sofa, 9×12 with a sectional or two-seater + chairs configuration. Front legs of furniture should rest on the rug.
• Primary bedroom: 8×10 under a queen bed (12–18 in. extending past the foot and sides), 9×12 under a king.
• Dining room: Add 24 inches to your table dimensions on every side so chairs stay on the rug when pulled out. 8×10 fits most rectangular six-seaters; 9×12 works for eight to ten.
• Home office / library: 5×7 or 6×9 anchors a desk + chair zone without crowding the doorway swing.

Pile is 66% polypropylene / 34% polyester on a cotton warp: solution-dyed, so the colour runs through the fibre and stays fade-resistant, and water-safe, because the fibre sheds moisture instead of drinking it. Spills blot up with cold water and a drop of mild soap; for a full clean it washes by hand or at a professional rug wash.

Frequently asked questions

What is the most common area-rug size?

For US living rooms, 8×10 ft is the most common size and the safest default. It accommodates a 7–8 ft sofa with the front legs of flanking chairs on the rug, leaves 12–18 in. of floor showing around the seating zone, and reads as intentional rather than oversized.

Should an area rug fit under all of the furniture?

Two acceptable styling rules: all-on (every leg of every piece on the rug — requires 9×12 or larger), or front-legs-on (front legs of the sofa and chairs on the rug, back legs off — works with 8×10 in most rooms). The mistake to avoid is all-off, where furniture floats around an undersized rug.

Are these hand-knotted?

No — machine-woven in Türkiye, with fringes, edges and fine detailing finished by hand. Hand-knotted Afghan carpets are shown at the showroom by appointment.

Do you have area rugs available for same-day pickup in Sacramento?
