Silk Rugs — From Silk-Touch Elegance to True Handmade Silk
A premium curation of silk-finish Persian-design rugs available online, with true handmade silk (Hereke, Qom, Isfahan, wool-silk Tabriz) available by special order through our Sacramento showroom and Custom Commission service.
Honest sourcing note: What you see in this online collection is our silk-touch / silk-finish tier — high-density machine-woven Persian-design rugs (2 Million Points construction) with the visual luminosity and soft hand-feel that silk is celebrated for, at a fraction of the price of handmade silk. True handmade silk pieces — pure silk, wool-silk blends, and bamboo silk woven by master artisans — are part of our Custom Commission and showroom inventory, available by appointment and special order. Understanding Silk in Rugs — Four Distinct Tiers
"Silk rug" can mean very different things depending on what's actually in the weave. Most online retailers conflate them. We don't. Here is exactly what each tier means, what it costs, and where each lives in our inventory.
Tier 1 — True Handmade Silk
Pure Silk (Hereke · Qom · Isfahan)
100% silk pile, hand-knotted on silk or cotton foundation. Knot counts of 800–2,000+ KPSI. The luminous, almost three-dimensional pieces that signature collectors prize. Often signed by the master weaver. A 4×6 can take a single artisan 12–18 months.
Where to find it: Sacramento showroom by appointment · commission a piece · price range $8,000–$60,000+ depending on size and atelier.
Tier 2 — True Handmade Blend
Wool-Silk Blend (Tabriz · Nain · Isfahan)
Hand-knotted with a wool field and silk highlights in the medallion, border, or floral motifs. The silk catches and reflects light against the matte wool, creating the depth that wool-silk Tabriz and Nain pieces are loved for. More practical underfoot than pure silk; still a true investment piece.
Where to find it: Sacramento showroom · custom commission in your dimensions and palette · price range $3,500–$18,000.
Tier 3 — Plant-Based Silk Alternative
Bamboo Silk (Viscose Rayon)
A regenerated cellulose fiber spun from bamboo pulp. Modern, lustrous, and beautifully soft, with the sheen of silk at a more accessible price. Best in low-traffic luxury spaces — bedrooms, formal sitting rooms — as it is less hardy underfoot than wool or pure silk. Hand-knotted or hand-loomed in India and Nepal.
Where to find it: Sourced on request through our supplier network · request a piece with your size, color palette, and pattern direction.
Tier 4 — Online Catalog
Silk-Touch Machine-Made (Premium Persian-Design)
High-density machine-woven Persian-design rugs at 2 Million Points construction — a refined cotton-and-blended pile engineered for the visual luminosity, soft underfoot feel, and intricate motif resolution that silk is loved for. Faithful Kashan, Qom, Shah, Kheshti, and medallion designs at a price that makes a beautiful living room or dining room achievable without a five-figure investment.

What Makes Our Silk-Touch Tier Worth a Closer Look
-
2 Million Points density. The "points" count refers to weave density. At 2 million points per square meter, the pile resolves intricate Persian motifs — fine floral scrollwork, central medallions, borders — with a clarity machine-made rugs at lower densities cannot match.
-
Silk-like cotton construction. A refined cotton blend pile delivers the luminous surface sheen and soft hand-feel that draws people to silk, with the practicality of fibers that handle real foot traffic.
-
Faithful Persian design vocabulary. Our collection includes Kashan, Qom, Shah, Kheshti, medallion, and floral medallion variants — the canonical Persian design families, executed at high resolution.
-
Curated colorways. Cream, navy, gray, gold-accent, red, black — the palettes that suit both classical formal interiors and contemporary luxury spaces.
-
Sizes for real rooms. Available in 8×10, 10×13, and runner formats — covering the dining room, living room, and hallway placements that drive most rug decisions.
For True Handmade Silk — How the Sourcing Process Works
If your project calls for a genuine handmade silk piece — pure silk, wool-silk, or bamboo silk — we offer two paths:
1. Visit the Showroom
We keep a rotating selection of handmade silk and wool-silk pieces at our 3423 Watt Avenue, Sacramento showroom. Open every day 10 AM – 7 PM. Call ahead at (916) 890-4077 to confirm what's currently on the floor in your size range — silk inventory turns over as collectors find their pieces.
2. Commission or Source
Through our Custom Commission service, we can source or commission true silk pieces in your exact dimensions, palette, and motif preference. Hereke and Qom ateliers, Tabriz wool-silk weavers, and Nepali bamboo-silk workshops are all part of our network. Lead times: 8–14 weeks for sourcing, 6–18 months for fully bespoke commissions.
