Stylish Rugs Collection

Traditional Rugs

Traditional rugs bring the timeless language of Persian and Oriental design into your home — central medallions, intricate floral borders, Kashan and Tabriz motifs, and the rich jewel-tone palettes that have defined fine rugs for centuries. Our traditional collection gathers the classic, formal designs in our catalog: Persian-inspired medallion rugs, Kashan and Qom patterns, Imperial and Darbar layouts, and ornate all-over florals.

An honest note on our catalog: the traditional rugs shown online are machine-woven on Turkish power looms in Persian and Iranian-inspired designs — faithful to the classic motifs, offered at accessible prices, in densities up to 1,200 reeds and 1.5–2 million points per square meter for crisp, silk-fine detail. Genuine hand-knotted antique and collector pieces are available through our Sacramento showroom and sourcing service.

What makes a rug "traditional"?

Traditional rugs are defined by symmetry and storytelling: a grounded central medallion, corner spandrels that echo it, and layered borders that frame the field. The palettes lean classic — deep navy, burgundy, cream, gold, and soft grays. These designs anchor formal living rooms, dining rooms, and entryways, and they pair beautifully with both antique and transitional furniture.

Choosing a size

For a living room, an 8×10 or 9×12 sits the front legs of your sofa and chairs on the rug; formal rooms read best with all furniture on a 9×12 or larger. Dining rooms need 24 inches of clearance past the chairs on every side — usually a 9×12 minimum. See our complete rug sizing guide, and browse by size in 8×10, 9×12, Runner, and Oversized.

Materials & care

Our traditional machine-woven rugs use a durable heat-set pile on a stable backing — dense, color-stable, and built for daily living. Are they washable? Yes — they are water-safe and fully washable. They are not meant for a home washing machine (a 9×12 simply won't fit), but they can be cleaned with a rug-washing machine or professional rug-cleaning service, rinsed with water, and laid flat to dry. That makes them genuinely practical for homes with kids and pets. For everyday upkeep, see our rug care guide.

Frequently asked questions

Buying Guide

How to Choose the Right Rug for Your Home

A fine rug should feel beautiful, balanced, and practical for the way you live. Use this quick guide to choose the right size, color, material, and style.

Choose the Right Size

For living rooms, 8×10 or 9×12 usually frames the seating area. For dining rooms, choose a rug that extends at least 24 inches beyond the table.

Match Your Color Story

Burgundy and gold create a warm traditional look. Navy and cream feel elegant and modern. Ivory, beige, and soft tones help brighten smaller rooms.

Understand Rug Quality

Machine-made rugs offer consistent patterns, durability, and easier maintenance. Higher density and detailed weaving create sharper designs.

Practical Buying Notes

What to Know Before Buying a Machine-Made Rug

Machine-made rugs are a practical choice for many homes because they offer consistent patterns, accessible pricing, and easier maintenance.

Density & Detail

Higher reed counts (1000–1500) produce sharper patterns. Our Persian-inspired collection is woven at 1200 reeds for crisp medallion definition.

Material & Feel

Modern machine-made rugs use polypropylene and polyester pile on a cotton warp — soft underfoot, stain-resistant, and naturally fade-resistant.

Easy Maintenance

Many of our designs are machine-washable at 30°C or spot-cleanable. No professional cleaning required for everyday upkeep.

Best Rooms

Living rooms, family rooms, dining areas, hallways, kid rooms, and apartments — anywhere you want luxury looks with practical wear.

Wool or Handmade

For heirloom investment pieces or formal sitting rooms with light traffic, ask about wool and hand-knotted options at the showroom.
