Quiet Luxury Underfoot

Silk, silk-touch — told straight

Silk is the most refined fiber in rug-making: fine, lustrous, and able to hold extraordinary detail. We do not currently stock genuine silk — and we would rather say so than let the word do the selling.

Silk-touch (online)

Finely woven Persian-design rugs with a soft, light-catching sheen and high knot detail — the silk look, at an accessible price, built to live with.

Pure silk — not yet

We do not currently stock genuine silk rugs. We intend to introduce a small number of them; when we do, they will be listed separately and described plainly — material, construction, and price.

Good to Know

Silk rug questions

Are your online silk rugs real silk?

No, and we say so plainly: our online "silk" rugs are silk-touch — fine viscose and microfiber blends woven in Persian designs that capture silk's sheen and detail at an accessible price. We do not currently stock genuine silk rugs. We intend to introduce a small number of them, and when we do they will be listed separately and labelled as genuine silk.

What is the difference between silk and silk-touch?

Pure silk is a natural protein fiber — extraordinarily fine, lustrous, and delicate, used in the highest hand-knotted carpets. Silk-touch is a durable man-made fiber engineered to look and feel similar, far more practical for everyday rooms. As a rule of thumb: a genuine hand-knotted silk rug runs into many thousands of dollars. If someone offers you one for a few hundred, it is not silk.

How do I care for a silk-touch rug?

Keep them in lower-traffic rooms and out of harsh direct sun, vacuum gently with suction only, and blot spills immediately. Unlike genuine silk, silk-touch is water-safe. Genuine silk should only ever be hand-washed by a specialist — never steam-cleaned.

Where can I see silk-touch rugs in Sacramento?

At our showroom, 3423 Watt Avenue, Sacramento, CA 95821 — open daily 10am–7:30pm. Call (916) 890-4077 to have specific pieces set aside for your visit.
