Large Area & Oversized Rugs
10×13, 12×15, 14×16, and beyond — for great rooms, open-plan living, and estate-scale spaces. Our largest standard online size is 10×13 ft (300×400 cm); oversized 12×15+ rugs are sourced by commission or sized in our showroom.
Honest sizing — what fits, what's in stock
U.S. retailers use "large area" loosely. Here is exactly where each tier lands and how we cover it.
Tier 1 · Large Area
10×13 ft
300×400 cm · ~129 sq ft
Largest standard online size. Anchors a 12×14 or 14×15 living room with 12–18″ floor reveal. 140+ designs in stock — Persian, Turkish, Kashan, Tabriz medallions.
Tier 2 · Extra Large
12×15 / 12×18
360×450 / 360×540 cm
Great rooms, open-plan dining + living, primary-suite anchor. Sourced by commission from our partner ateliers in Iran, Turkey, and Afghanistan; 8–16 weeks for machine-woven, 4–12 months for hand-knotted.
Tier 3 · Estate / Oversized
14×16 → 14×20+
425×490 → 425×600+ cm
Estate foyers, ballrooms, hospitality lobbies, palace-scale primary suites. True commission only — hand-knotted Tabriz, Kashan, Hereke, Qom silk programs. Trade pricing through our designer desk.
How to size a large rug correctly
A rug that's one size too small is the most common large-room mistake. Here is the rule we coach every Sacramento client through.
Living rooms
Front legs of every seating piece on the rug, ideally all four legs. 12–18″ of bare floor reveal on every side. A 14×16 ft room → 10×13 anchors front-legs; a 16×18 ft room → 12×15 needed for full-leg coverage.
Dining rooms
Add 24″ on every side of the table to keep chairs on the rug when pulled out. A 96″ rectangular table → 12×8 ft minimum; a 108″ round → 11×11 ft minimum. Most great-room dinings need 12×15 or larger.
Open-plan / great rooms
Define each zone with its own rug rather than one giant rug. A 10×13 living anchor + a 9×12 dining anchor reads more intentional than a single 14×20 floating in the middle. We routinely commission paired sets.
Primary suites
Rug should extend 24–36″ past the bed on three sides. King bed (76×80″) → 10×13 minimum; California King in a vaulted estate suite → 12×15 commissioned.

Frequently asked
What's the largest rug you have in stock right now?
Our largest standard online size is 10×13 ft (300×400 cm), available across 140+ designs in our 1200-Reed and 2 Million Point series. Anything larger — 12×15, 14×16, 14×20 — is sourced by commission with 8–16 week (machine-woven) or 4–12 month (hand-knotted) lead times.
Why don't you stock 12×15 or 14×16 in your standard catalog?
Two reasons. First, oversized rugs occupy room-scale floor space in any showroom — we'd rather show 30 anchor designs at 10×13 than two designs at 14×16. Second, every estate-scale buyer benefits from a custom palette and material spec; commissioning a 12×15 takes 8–16 weeks and lets you choose pile height, colorway, and motif spacing for your room.
How do I know if I need 10×13 or step up to 12×15?
Measure the seating zone (or dining table + 24″ on every side). Add 12–18″ reveal on every side. If that math lands above 130″ × 156″, you need 12×15. We're happy to walk through your floor plan over phone, video, or in the showroom — no obligation.
What's the price range for a 12×15 commissioned rug?
Machine-woven 1200-Reed or 2 Million Point: roughly $2,800–$6,500 commissioned. Hand-knotted wool-on-cotton from Tabriz / Kashan: $7,500–$28,000. Wool-silk blend or fine hand-knotted Hereke / Qom silk: $12,000–$60,000+. We quote against your spec sheet — no hidden margins.
Do you deliver oversized rugs?
Yes — free white-glove delivery and placement throughout the greater Sacramento region (Roseville, Folsom, El Dorado Hills, Granite Bay, Davis, Lake Tahoe second homes). Out-of-region commissions ship via crated freight; we coordinate the receiver and unrolling.
Can I see oversized examples in your showroom before committing?
Yes. Our Watt Avenue showroom maintains a rotating selection of large-format hand-knotted and machine-woven pieces for in-person scale assessment. We also bring 4–6 large-format samples to your home or studio on the memo program (free for trade clients, refundable deposit for retail).
