Design

A single grand medallion fills almost the whole field, packed with hundreds of small motifs — hooks, rosettes, stepped diamonds — so it reads as one shape from across the room and dissolves into detail up close. This is the red colourway: the madder ground carries the rug and the dark tone is used as outline only, which makes the piece warmer, lighter and easier in a room that does not get much daylight.

Washing and Care

The polypropylene pile is colourfast and water-safe, so this rug can be washed at home — by hand with a hose, mild soap and a soft brush, or with a carpet-cleaning machine. Rinse it clean, squeegee the water out with the direction of the pile, and dry it flat or over a rail; it will not shrink and the colours will not run. Do not put it in a washing machine or a tumble dryer — no area rug of this size belongs in one. Day to day, vacuum on low with the beater bar switched off, and blot spills rather than rubbing them.

Weight and Feel

At 2.6 kg per square metre over a 10 mm medium pile this is a medium-weight rug — dense enough to lie flat straight out of the roll and hold its shape under furniture, light enough that one person can roll and move even the large sizes. On a smooth floor, a thin rug pad will keep it from sliding.

Styling It

The red-led version is the more traditional of the two colourways and the easier one in a north-facing or lamp-lit room, where it gives back warmth instead of absorbing it. Pair with walnut, cognac leather, brass and cream linen. If your room is already bright and pale, the black colourway of the same design will give you more contrast.
