Buy Persian, Afghan & Turkish Rugs in Lake Tahoe, CA
Lake Tahoe homes have a specific design language — board-and-batten ceilings, river-rock fireplaces, exposed beams, and great rooms scaled for entertaining. The rugs that belong in these lodges and cabins are durable wool, hand-knotted when budget allows, with deeply pigmented warm palettes that work against the natural wood and stone. Stylish Rugs & Carpets serves the entire Lake Tahoe corridor — Palisades Tahoe, Northstar, Truckee, Tahoe City, Incline Village, Heavenly, and South Lake Tahoe — from our Sacramento warehouse and showroom.
Lake Tahoe Neighborhoods We Serve
Each part of Lake Tahoe has its own housing era and design language. The rug that belongs in a 1920s Craftsman is very different from one that suits a 2020s great room. Here's how we think about each corner of Lake Tahoe.
North Lake & Palisades Tahoe
Premier ski-in/ski-out custom lodges in Olympic Valley, Alpine Meadows, and the Palisades — board-and-batten ceilings, river-rock fireplaces, two-story great rooms. The rug palette that suits these homes runs to deep reds, burgundies, antique-cream, and tobacco; Persian Kashan medallions and Afghan tribal pieces both serve beautifully. Most great rooms take a 9×12 or a 10×13, our largest.
Northstar & Truckee
Mountain-modern luxury homes around Northstar California and historic Truckee with mixed traditional and contemporary interiors. Tribal Turkmen, Afghan Khal Mohammadi, and modern-transitional designs work well; runner rugs for long hallways and entry mudrooms are also a steady request.
Tahoe City, Carnelian Bay & Tahoma
West-shore second homes and historic Tahoe cabins — smaller-scale, often 5×8 or 6×9 in the main room with runner rugs in the kitchen and hallway. Persian medallions, mid-pile Turkmen, and tribal Afghan pieces work well in the warm wood interiors.
South Lake Tahoe & Heavenly
Mixed full-time-residence and vacation-rental property base. Durability matters here — short-pile Persian-design weaves, machine-woven hand-finished pieces, and pet-and-snow-friendly low-pile designs. We carry sturdy options that look traditional but handle real Tahoe foot traffic.
Why Lake Tahoe Homeowners Choose Stylish Rugs
Designers Welcome
We are retail only - everyone pays the same price, with no trade tiers and no memo programme. Designers and their clients are welcome in the showroom, and we are happy to pull pieces to compare side by side.
Built for Tahoe Conditions
Tahoe homes deal with snow boots, ski gear, summer dust, and pet traffic. We'll steer you to dense-pile wool or short-pile machine-woven pieces designed to handle real-life Tahoe use — not delicate weaves that won't survive winter.
Shipping
Free local delivery around Sacramento. Everywhere else in the US and Canada ships free on orders over $110, a flat $20 below that, with tracking on every order.

Lake Tahoe Rug FAQs
Do you ship to Lake Tahoe second homes?
Yes. Orders ship by FedEx or UPS with tracking throughout the basin — Palisades Tahoe, Northstar, Truckee, Tahoe City, Tahoma, Incline Village, Heavenly, South Lake Tahoe — free on orders over $110, a flat $20 below that. Rugs arrive rolled and wrapped, ready to lay out.
What rug holds up best to Tahoe wear and tear?
Dense-pile wool and short-pile Persian-design weaves are the most durable choices for full-time Tahoe homes. We'll steer you away from delicate pieces for high-traffic great rooms and toward Persian medallions or Afghan tribal weaves with practical underfoot construction.
Can you commission a large hand-knotted rug for a Tahoe lodge?
No - we do not commission or weave rugs to order. We sell from stock, and 10x13 ft (300x400 cm) is the largest size we carry. Genuine hand-knotted Afghan carpets - Turkmen, Khal Mohammadi, Baluch and Aqcha in hand-spun wool - are shown in our Sacramento showroom by appointment. Call (916) 890-4077 to arrange a viewing.
Do you have a Lake Tahoe showroom?
No — we serve Tahoe from our Sacramento showroom, about 2 hours by car. Call ahead and we will set specific rugs out side by side for your visit.
How far is Sacramento from Lake Tahoe?
About 100 miles east of Sacramento — roughly 2 hours via I-80 to North Lake Tahoe or Highway 50 to South Lake Tahoe. Driving to the showroom from Tahoe, you head west on the same roads.
