The Oval Medallion Edit

The oval is the room’s quietest gesture — softening square dining tables, anchoring curved seating, breaking the orthogonal grid most rooms inherit by default.

This edit gathers the oval medallions currently in our 1200-reed Persian-design line: silver, light grey, dark grey, teal-and-navy, navy-and-burgundy. All machine-woven in Türkiye to a density that holds fine detail without the weight of a hand-knotted antique. Different tonal languages, the same calm shape.

Where an oval earns its place

Under a round or oval dining table. This is the obvious one and the strongest: the shapes agree, and chairs pull back onto a continuous edge instead of catching a corner.

In a room full of right angles. A square room, a rectangular sofa, a coffee table, a media unit — an oval is often the only curve in the plan, and it does more to soften the space than any amount of soft furnishing.

In an entry or a landing. Ovals read as deliberate in small spaces where a rectangle reads as a mat.

Where they are harder: under a rectangular sofa-and-chairs grouping, where the front legs of the furniture land on the curve rather than on a straight edge. It can be done, but centre it carefully and expect to fuss.

What size oval do I need for a round dining table?

Add about 24 inches beyond the table edge on every side so chairs stay on the rug when pulled out. For a 48-inch round table that means roughly an 8-foot oval.

Are these hand-knotted?

No — machine-woven in Türkiye with fringes and edges finished by hand. The design names describe the pattern, not the country of manufacture.

Can I get an oval in 9×12?

Inventory in ovals rotates. If you are considering a large oval and do not see the tone you want listed, WhatsApp (916) 890-4077 — we can usually tell you what is coming or what is on the showroom floor but not yet online.

What to know before buying a machine-made rug

Construction

The online catalog is power-loomed in Türkiye with hand-attached fringes and hand-finished edges. Each product page lists the exact construction, density, pile height and material.

Material & feel

A polypropylene pile on a cotton warp and weft — soft underfoot, colourfast, and far more forgiving of traffic and spills than wool.

Cleaning

Colourfast and water-safe, so a rug can be washed at home by hand or with a carpet-cleaning machine. Never in a washing machine or dryer. Day to day, vacuum on low with the beater bar off.

Best rooms

Living rooms, dining rooms, hallways, family rooms and majlis seating — anywhere you want a traditional look that survives daily use.

Genuine hand-knotted Afghan carpets are shown at the Sacramento showroom by appointment. They are not part of this online catalog.

Shipping is free on orders over $110 across the USA and Canada, and a flat $20 below that. Orders leave within one business day and arrive in 3–5 business days in the U.S. Sacramento-area online orders get free local delivery in 1–2 days.

What is your return policy?

30-day returns on online orders. Items must be unused, in original condition and in original packaging. The customer pays return shipping; if a rug arrives damaged or faulty, we pay. Approved refunds are processed within 3–7 business days.

Are these rugs machine-made or hand-knotted?

Hand-knotted Afghan pieces are shown at the Sacramento showroom by appointment and are not listed online.

Can a rug be cut or bound to a different size?

We sell from stock rather than weaving to order, and the largest size we carry is 10×13. What we do in house is cutting, binding, overlocking and fringe work on a rug we already stock, so an existing piece can be trimmed to fit an alcove or a stair run. Ask us and we will tell you what is on the floor.

Can I see the rugs in person before buying?

Yes. The showroom is at 3423 Watt Avenue, Sacramento, open daily 10:00 AM – 7:30 PM. We speak English, Turkish, Farsi, Dari, Pashto and Urdu, and the team can help with size and colour choices.
