Good to Know
Silk rug questions
Are your online silk rugs real silk?
We’re honest about this: our online “silk” rugs are silk-touch — fine viscose and microfiber blends woven in Persian designs that capture silk’s sheen and detail at an accessible price. Genuine pure-silk hand-knotted rugs (Qom, Hereke) are shown by appointment in our Sacramento showroom.
What is the difference between silk and silk-touch?
Pure silk is a natural protein fiber — extraordinarily fine, lustrous, and delicate, used in the highest hand-knotted carpets. Silk-touch is a durable man-made fiber engineered to look and feel similar, far more practical for everyday rooms.
How do I care for a silk or silk-touch rug?
Keep them in lower-traffic rooms and out of harsh direct sun, vacuum gently with suction only, and blot spills immediately. Pure silk should only ever be hand-washed by a specialist — never steam-cleaned. We can point you to the right care.
