What “Oriental rug” really means
“Oriental” is the family; “Persian” is its most famous member. The term covers hand-woven rugs from across Iran, Türkiye, Afghanistan, the Caucasus, and beyond — each region with its own knots, motifs, and palette. We bring that whole tradition to Sacramento, and we help you tell one from another.

Good to Know
Persian & Oriental rug questions
What is the difference between a Persian rug and an Oriental rug?
All Persian rugs are Oriental rugs, but not all Oriental rugs are Persian. “Oriental” covers hand-woven rugs from Iran, Türkiye, Afghanistan, the Caucasus, India, and beyond. “Persian” specifically means rugs in the Iranian tradition — Tabriz, Kashan, Isfahan, and similar.
Are your Persian rugs hand-knotted?
We’re honest about this. Our online collection is Turkish-made in classic Persian designs — finely woven 1200-Reed and 2-Million-Point pieces, not hand-knotted. Genuine hand-knotted Iranian, Turkish, and antique carpets are part of our Sacramento showroom and are shown by appointment.
