What “hand-knotted” really means
A hand-knotted rug is tied by hand, knot by knot, on a loom — the genuine article, and an investment. Most rugs sold online (ours included) are machine-woven in Persian designs. We tell you plainly which is which, so you never overpay for the wrong thing. Hand-knotted vs machine-made →

Good to Know
Hand-knotted rug questions
Do you sell genuine hand-knotted rugs?
Yes — in our Sacramento showroom and on commission. Our online catalog is mostly machine-woven Persian-design at accessible prices; true hand-knotted Persian, Turkish, and Afghan pieces are shown by appointment and woven to order. We always state the construction honestly.
How can I tell a hand-knotted rug from a machine-made one?
Flip it over: a hand-knotted rug shows the pattern clearly on the back with slightly irregular knots and a hand-finished fringe that is part of the foundation. Machine-made rugs have a uniform back and an attached fringe. We are happy to show you the difference in person.
Can I order a custom hand-knotted rug?
Yes. Through our commission service you choose the size, palette, origin, and material, and we weave it to order — typically 4 to 12 months for hand-knotted pieces.
Where can I see hand-knotted rugs in Sacramento?
At our showroom, 3423 Watt Avenue, Sacramento, CA 95821 — open daily 10am–7pm. Call (916) 890-4077 ahead and we will set aside pieces in your size and palette.
