An Afghan toshak cover set on a cream ground with a deep navy border and a fine floral medallion. One floor-mattress cover plus two matching cushion covers. The lightest of this group — the open cream field keeps a small room from closing in, and the navy edge does the framing.
Designed and produced by our own team — Afghan and Turkish craftspeople who grew up with these pieces in their own homes. We import the foam ourselves by the container and cut and fill it here in Sacramento.

Specifications
- Foam: polyurethane, 28 density, 190 × 75 × 10 cm — about 75″ long, 30″ deep, 4″ thick.
- Covers: first-class polyester, soft and hard-wearing, in authentic Afghan patterns.
- Care: the cover comes off and machine washes at 30°C, then air dries. The foam core is spot-cleaned.
- Storage: folds flat and stacks.
- Shipping: foam arrives compressed and expands fully within about a day.
Before you order
A toshak needs a wall behind it — the cushions are backrests, not a frame. And measure the wall, not the room: each toshak is about 75 inches, so a 12-foot wall takes two.
A cream ground shows marks sooner than a dark one. The cover unzips and machine washes, so this is a practical choice — but if the set will take daily traffic from children or pets, the darker colourways are the easier life.

The Afghan toshak is the floor mattress of the home — long, firm, often laid in pairs along the walls of a sitting room and topped with bolster pillows. It is the foundation of the traditional Afghan reception room (mehmankhana), and it remains in everyday use across the diaspora — including the substantial Afghan community in the Sacramento area.
How It Feels Underfoot
Toshaks are built for daily use and long evenings of seated conversation. The cushion is firm enough to support a seated weight without compressing, the cover is structured for repeated wear, and the bolsters carry the lean. Properly built, a toshak holds its shape for years — and the cover can be cleaned or replaced separately when needed.

Our Afghan toshak sets are crafted in the traditional way: handwoven kilim-style covers with high-density foam inserts and hand-finished edges. Patterns reflect classic Turkmen and northern Afghan motifs.
Cover fabrics are durable enough for daily floor seating yet soft enough for prayer rooms and meditation spaces. Removable covers (where marked) allow easy washing and rotation.
