In rooms with cool light and grey or black-brown furniture it holds its own against a grey sofa without disappearing into it. At 1500 reeds the small flowers in a border like this stay as flowers instead of collapsing into texture, which is the whole reason to pay for the finer weave.

Art Silk is the dressier fibre. It catches the light as you walk past it, and that is exactly what you want in a formal living room, a dining room or a main bedroom.

It is the wrong choice for a mudroom, a kitchen, or a house with a large dog. Art Silk marks more easily with water than a fully synthetic pile does, so a spill needs blotting promptly. This piece sits in the cotton family — cotton face on a cotton foundation, precision machine-woven for sharp pattern definition with hand-finished edges. The cotton hand is softer and lighter than wool underfoot, reads more tonal, and suits bedrooms, sunrooms, and adult-led households where palette quietness matters.

Patterns draw on Persian medallion and field traditions, translated into the cotton register: lighter, more luminous, more breathable than a comparable wool weave. Care is straightforward but not machine-wash — see the Care panel for details on this construction.
